Another week of fantasy football, another week of pain and sadness. Every team in this league seems to be pretty even, and that's a good thing. It just brings me pain. This has been an very interesting week in the league. I don't want to be that guy, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the week the newsletters come back the league went crazy. Let's begin with the trade before the games started.
Trade Alert
There was a trade that was made before the week began. Keep in mind I still think it was a decent trade before the week transpired.
Let's break down this trade. At the time, Lamar was coming back so I didn't think I needed a backup as good as Flacco anymore. I thought it would be good to move up in the draft a little bit and also got a slightly worse backup in return. Then, Thursday Night Football happened and potentially ended Wentz's career. Then, on Sunday Flacco had another great game with Lamar not playing at the last second. This third round pick better be a league changing player.
Week 8 Recap
This might have been the most painful loss I have ever been through. Jared's team really came together to made sure I continued my losing streak. Even Jared's kicker put up over 20 points. I have a theory that the having a good kicker in fantasy gets you championships, but that's for another time. Anyway, I blame Lamar and and Mike Evans for this losing slide. I might never recover from this. Thinking about blowing it up and doing an all out rebuild.
Big win here for Jake. His QB play as well as Henry coming back to form carried him to this win. Alex seems to not care anymore this season. He started an injured player this week. It would have been a lot closer if Alex didn't have a 0 spot in his lineup. The questing remains for Jake's team. Can Derrick Henry remain successful when Lamar Jackson returns?
This is exactly what I predicted. Even with Baker and Quentin Johnston doing terribly, he still dominated this week. I have a theory that Kelce is starting to go off because he's on Jack's team. With Cam Skattebo being out for the season, his season seems to now be lost. After the draft Jack had, he might be our new champion.
What a terrible game for Joe. Just so everyone is aware, Coach Doug started 3 players on bye and he only lost by 4 points. This should be a wake up call for Coach Doug. He should start trying and he could win some games. It's sickening that Terry McLaurin is sitting on his bench. Joe's team might be ok? I honestly can't tell. He's had 2 players on bye, but his rookies are not performing well at all.
I tried to warn Sam. The Eagles heard about Sam disrespecting the troops and they had to do something about it. In all honesty, Sam's team has a lot of injuries right now. It might be time to start thinking about a rebuild. His WR room is actually pretty good, it's his RBs that's the issue. I also think this might be Private Joe's last win of the season. As always, thank you for your service.
Unfortunately for Ryan, the only thing good about his team his his name. Ryan's team is full of injuries and bye week madness. This might be the only time I've seen a 2 QB league get below 100 points. You could make the argument that Stephen got lucky here too. A lot of his players seem to underperform this week, but that could be just because they knew he was playing Ryan.
This needs to be the game of my life this week. With how many injuries Stephen has, if my team doesn't win this week, it might be time to go into a rebuild. It might come down to Lamar Jackson. He needs to play to boost my teams morale. Josh Jacobs playing Carolina is terrifying to me. I am very scared.
Pick: RJ
This is a big week for Jake. He needs to win this week in order to consider himself a contender. Ryan 2 currently has no good RBs available to play. One thing glaring though is Joe Flacco being questionable for Jake. He should be able to pull it off still.
Pick: Jake
With Brock Bowers coming back, Jared should win this one. We all know what's going to happen in this matchup though. With the Chiefs playing the Bills this week, I just know Kelce is going to put up 50 points, stealing him the win.
Pick: JackJoe's team is back and fully healthy, a scarry look for Ryan. Ryan has a serious QB problem. Ryan's team has gone through QBs like it's nothing. Ryan has 5 unavailable QBs on his bench currently. Ryan might be the biggest what if this season. Ryan's team looked really good before all the injuries.
Pick: Joe
We have a good old fashioned tank bowl here. Unfortunately for coach Doug, half of Private Joe's team (the Eagles) is on bye this week. It would have been a good matchup. Can coach Doug do the impossible and lose?
Pick: Coach DougAnother two titans of industry here. Sam has 2 good QBs he can lean on this week, but Alex seems to have more depth. Unfortunately for Sam, Jaden Daniels should be coming back for him this week. I'm still going to ride with Sam here though. I have completely flipped and become a huge Sam guy.
Pick: Sam
Trade Alert
As I was writing this, a new trade as came across my desk and it seems like it can take the league by storm.
Ryan 2 Sam
This is an interesting trade here. According to the talk in the league, it appears that Sam has lost this trade, but I disagree. First off, he gained a draft pick. A good thing if he's going to go for a rebuild. Second, I question how long Bucky is going to last when it comes to fantasy. The Bucs seem to go through RBs every other season. You could also make the argument that Bucky is worth the first round pick. When attacked by this trade, Sam said "I don’t watch football so I just kind of operate on gut feeling". A generational response here. I'm buying all the Sam stock I can get.
