Not Being Commissioner In Your Fantasy League Is The Absolute Worst (I've Been Overthrown)

This dark tale begins on a slow Friday work day. For everyone new, I am in a 16 team fantasy football league for 6 years now and I have been commissioner of that league for 3 years. This is about the time I start doing the mock drafts. Does it actually help at all? Maybe, you could argue that's how I snagged Ladd last year, but it probably doesn't help. I mainly do it because it's a fun way to pass the time.

Anyway, I logged into the app and went to start a mock draft. I noticed the draft order has not been set up. You have to had the draft order set up in order to do a good mock draft or else the app will just pick a random draft spot for you. Not a problem. As commissioner, I can just go in and set the draft order for the year. Should be simple right? WRONG.

I noticed it wouldn't let me set the draft order. I then checked the app and apparently I am no longer commissioner. Believe it or not, this has happened before. I have no clue as to why. In my opinion, it's because I used to care the most about the league. It quite frankly pissed some people off. You could argue that someone that happened to have co - admin rights (in case something crazy went down and I was busy) has been out to get me for years could have done this. I haven't checked, but I would bet money that he might be the only one with commissioner rights.

Notice what I said in the last paragraph. That's right, USED to care the most about the league. I have now turned a new leaf. That league has now moved out of the top spot of my "Fantasy Football Leagues I Care About" rankings. My most important league is now my 12 team league that I'm commissioner in with a bunch of guys I played rec league basketball with. We were undefeated and would have won the championship if the commissioner didn't quit right before the playoffs started, but that conspiracy is for a different time.

It feels so nice now that the 12 team league is my most important league. The best part? The like to actually have fun. Contrary to popular belief in some circles, things like trading draft picks and trying things like adding a defensive players or having a WR/TE slot is actually fun.

This is going to be a big year in fantasy football. A lot of uncertainty in the league this year that could create chaos. Having chaos is the absolute BEST. Just so everyone knows, I'll end this with the current updated rankings for the "Fantasy Football Leagues I Care About":

  1. 12 team league with my rec league basketball friends (I'm commissioner)
  2. 16 team league (should be commissioner)
  3. 12 team league with people from work (might move up to 2 but I have to get a good feel of the group)
