Ban The Tush Push
Everyone has seen the drama involving the tush push. In my opinion, it should be banned for many reasons. Let's break them down.
Eagles Fans Are Insufferable
Has anyone noticed that the only people that are fighting for this rule are Eagles fans? Yeah, they're known for being great people. All of these Eagles fans claim that everyone else is just jealous and their team should have drafted better. This is just simply not the case. All you need is a good offensive line. Plus, it's also really funny to see eagles fans complain.
It's Really Just A QB Sneak
If you ask me, I think just a classic QB sneak isn't too different. You don't need a QB that can squat 500 pounds to do a QB sneak, just look at how good Tom Brady was at it. If anyone tries to counter this argument and say "Players have gotten injured on a QB sneak" just tell them they are right. since they are so similar they should be for banning the tush push.
It's Illegal On Defense
Did you know that this was once legal on defense and is now banned? I know, crazy. This is the biggest argument for banning the tush push. If it's legal on offense, than the defense should be able to do it as well. "But that would look too much like rugby." I agree, let's ban it for both sides of the ball then.
The Play Is Boring
Do you know why football is America's most popular sport? It's because it's exciting. You could make the argument that the tush push is almost as boring as soccer. The NFL has also banned plays in the past for being boring. That's part of the reason they changed the kickoff to the far superior XFL version.
What Went Wrong
As most of you know, the vote ended up being close, but the tush push stays legal for one more year. I think what went wrong was the wording of the rule. The wording stated that it was illegal for any offensive player to be pushed forward. I actually disagree with that rule. I think its cool to see someone push the WR the extra 2 yards to convert on third down. If they change the rule to just pushing the QB forward, I think it would pass.
In Conclusion
In the long run, this isn't going to be a big deal at all. This is just the dead of the offseason. People are thirsty for something to talk about. People act like the play is completely unstoppable, it's not. I have seen the Eagles get stopped multiple times, even the Bills got stopped trying to tush push in the playoffs against the Chiefs. Some people are good at QB sneaks, some aren't. Everyone should stop crying and get over it in the end.
